As a micronutrient, zinc in the body plays a major role in enzyme system of the body. Although salts of zinc metal can be found in many food sources, it is absorbed by gastrointestinal tract (GI) incompletely. Therefore, deficiency of this metal can be observed in some people.  In general, zinc is vital for growth and development, sexual maturation and reproduction, adaptation of vision in darkness, activities of taste and smell, storage and release of insulin and also host’s immune defense system physiologically.  Zinc deficiency can cause growth retardation, impaired immune function, increased incidence of infections, hypogonadism, Oligospermia, anorexia, diarrhea, weight loss, delayed wound healing, neural tube defects in the fetus, increasing the risk of miscarriage, alopecia, mental lethargy and skin changes. The body needs zinc metal more during pregnancy and has useful effects on fetal growth and development. Moreover, zinc plays a key role in converting beta- carotene into vitamin “A” and can be effective in protecting degree of vision of the elderly.  Chronic diarrheas can be a symptom of zinc deficiency and the diarrhea can cause the reduced zinc in the body. The use of zinc supplement can help reduce incidence, severity and duration of chronic diarrhea in children.

Each tablet contains 30 mg zinc as zinc gluconate

It is recommended to take one zinc tablet daily after a meal.

Lengthy use of high- dose zinc supplement can cause copper not to be absorbed properly in the body. This condition can cause Sideroblastic anemia as well. Zinc absorption may be reduced by iron supplements, tetracyclines, quinolones, penicillamine and products containing phosphor. Therefore, concomitant use should be avoided

Up to 30 mg daily use of zinc is generally well tolerated. Higher values of zinc use may cause adverse reactions in the body.  The most common adverse reactions are gastrointestinal, including nausea, vomiting and gastrointestinal discomfort. To reduce probable gastrointestinal adverse reactions, it is better to use this supplement after meals.  Once you take too much (overdose) zinc, milk and activated charcoal should be used. Emetic agents and gastric lavage should be avoided.

It is permissible under medical supervision.
