Pharmacological and Clinical Notes of Diapect
Diapect Thyme, due to the presence of thyme and ivy leaf, whose effects in the treatment of cough and bronchitis are well established, exhibits anti-inflammatory and bronchospasmolytic properties. The active compounds of thyme and ivy have also been proven to possess antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral effects. Thymol, the main active constituent of thyme, disinfects the upper respiratory tract through its action during excretion via these pathways. Other compounds present in the extracts, including flavonoids, provide anti-inflammatory effects that help relieve irritation and inflammation of the respiratory tract. The formulation of this syrup also includes marshmallow (Althaea), whose mucilage forms a protective layer over the irritated throat mucosa, providing soothing, antitussive, and anti-inflammatory effects.
